It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the closing of the Towns Tribune.
We did our best to get the news out in a fair and accurate manner. I want to extend my thanks to all of our supporters in this adventure. Our subscribers, small business that bought ads with us, and our readers.
Large size ads, that most small businesses can't afford, are what keeps a paper in business. In our case, the larger businesses let us down. Car dealerships, large hospitals, resorts and others are the answer to paying the price of printing each week. For us, for some reason, those were unobtainable.
Newspaper production is a hard line of work. Each word you write, each article you put in, are all judged. I tried to keep producing a paper for Towns County that we could be proud of. I am proud of it. I was fair, and I was willing to dig for the truth. Unfortunately, that often times costs advertising. In a small town, we can't afford to not have those.
I wish production could continue. Maybe one day it will. In the meantime, please know how grateful I am to the ones whose supported us. I will never forget.
